How Much is a Bar Girl’s Monthly Salary?

That places Lek in the highest salary range for a Thai. (In Thailand only 680,000 out of 32,100,000 registered taxpayers earn over 25,000 baht per month).

Not all bar girls have this earning potential. There are many skills and attributes such as being able to speak English that influence the earning capacity of a bar girl. Some girls would be lucky to have 1 client per week.

Another bar girl, Pen, who works in a bar in Jhomtien, reported earning around 45,000 baht for one month. She is pretty, has a nice body and speaks English quite well. Suppose you struck a rapport with Pen and decided you would like to take her on a two week excursion.

If you do the maths 45,000 (her potential salary if she remained in the bar) divided by 29 days = 1,550 baht per day. You would have to pay a daily bar fine (around 500baht) to the bar owner/manager. Therefore to take her with you on a mini holiday would cost you around 2,000 baht per day .

But wait a minute. Don't get sucked into that.

On realizing certain attributes you would be able to negotiate a lesser fee for her to join you on a one or two week excursion. There are many reasons why it would cost you a lot less to take Pen on a mini vacation. These issues are too controversial to discuss here. The average retainer for a short time bar girl is 3,000 baht per month. If she takes a day off without notifying the manager in advance with good reason then around 200 baht will be deducted from her salary. In some cases the deduction for taking a day off can be more severe.
